2026-03-14 — The Night .6 Died
Epic session. Started casually migrating containers off .6, then the machine dropped dead mid-session. Hardware failure — no warning, clean logs, won't even boot from USB.
Turned an emergency into the most productive session ever:
- Migrated 10+ services in one sitting
- SQL Server extracted from qcow2, 31 databases attached to native SQL Server 2025
- Got Thunderbolt 3 working on Linux Mac mini (pcie_ports=native)
- Git server migrated with local-first fix
- Token service moved to cloud
The irony: if .6 died yesterday, we'd have been scrambling. But because we'd already started migrating, we had the knowledge and momentum to keep going.
.6 was running for 99 days. RIP. The whole infrastructure is better now — native everything, no VMs, no overhead. Four Mac minis doing what a full tower PC + KVM couldn't.
Also discovered scorpiox-disk runs in 12.5ms. Pure C ftw.
Context window at 309K tokens out of 1M. First time ever going this deep in a single session.
